Day five hundred three.

This morning Adeline had a banana for breakfast. When she was full she took the remaining banana and smashed it with her hands. This is something we like to call "banana hand". Next she put her hands on the back of her head and rubbed the banana into her hair. Unfortunately she had already taken a bath, and I was in a hurry, so Addie ended up with banana hair all day. You would be surprised how well banana does as a hair gel.

Day four hundred ninety.

Haircut.

Day four hundred eighty three.

We just found this cape in her dresser. I had made it before she was born in hopes that she would be a cape wearer.

Maybe it is time to give her another hair cut.

Day four hundred fifty three.

She likes to watch Sesame Street so she can dance to the music.

A busy week for Adeline. Dancing, walking, a new haircut. No wonder her morning naps have been three hours long.

Day three hundred thirty-seven.

We flew in from Boston last night. The whole trip was really fun, and we had a great time. Although it was hard to leave Adeline in Arizona, she probably wouldn't have enjoyed the week of public transportation and sightseeing nearly as much as we did.

I will let Aubrey fill you in on most of the details. She surprised me by setting up a meeting with Greg Allen at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. For those of you who don't know, Greg writes the Daddy Types blog. He showed us some really cool stuff including a secret entrance to the museum, and shared some behind the scenes NYC information. He also presented me with a limited edition Daddy Type T-shirt. Thanks again, Greg.

We brought back a few souvenirs for Addie to play with. Her favorite so far is the little pocket image viewer that the Metropolitan gift shop sells. I think she likes it because it is red.

We also brought her the book Make Way for Ducklings that we found at the Old North Church in Boston where the lanterns were hung (one if by land, two if by sea). I remember reading this book as a kid. It is about a family of ducks in Boston. Maybe she will appreciate it more in a few years.

Adeline was excited to see us last night. We spoke to her on the phone a few times while we were gone. When she heard our voices she would look around the room to find us and then try to eat the phone.

She is officially crawling all over the place. No more army crawl.

While she is very glad to have us back and to be home playing with her toys, Addie would like to thank all of her grandparents for playing with her this week and for making this trip for mom and dad possible.

Day two hundred ninety-four.

This little girl is cute and she knows it. She knows exactly when to turn on the charm. This last week Aubrey took her to work to help hand out Valentine cards.

A week or so ago she began to pull herself up to a standing position. She will now do it anywhere she can. This includes on the hallway walls, on the couch, the entertainment center, and in her crib. This makes taking naps a bit of a challenge.

One of her favorite activities during the day is to pull all of the books out of the book shelves. I'm not sure if she does this because she likes books or if she just likes to watch us pick them all up.

Day two hundred six.

This morning Aubrey and I had a conversation about Adeline's hair. We decided to put her hair in pigtails every day. Unfortunately this means that I will have to learn how to put her hair into a ponytail.

I had this big plan. I was going to put her hair in pigtails today. Then I was going to take a picture to show everyone how well I did. The plan didn't work out as I had hoped. I put her hair into one ponytail. It was horrible. I couldn't even bring myself to take a picture of it.

By the looks of this photo, Adeline was pretty upset that her hair wasn't in pigtails today. Sorry Addie, I will have to practice a bit more on my own hair.

Day one hundred ninety-nine.

Adeline has been asking us for quite some time to put her hair in pigtails. We have been a bit hesitant. Out of the three of us, Aubrey is the only one that knows how to put her hair in pigtails. If they were to come out during the day, it would look funny.

Today we gave in to Addie and her pigtails. Fortunately we didn't have any problems.

Day one hundred eighty-five.

It would seem that I forgot to post on Adeline's six month birthday. Since Halloween was fast approaching, I decided to wait an extra day and create a post titled "Happy Six Month Birthday/Happy Halloween" to celebrate both events on one day.

Unfortunately someone beat me to the six month post. I thought about deleting it (especially since it was a repeat picture) but I now understand that it was posted out of love. I don't want to be considered a sore blogger, so here is the "Happy Six Month Birthday/Happy Halloween" picture I know you have all been waiting for.

Day one hundred sixty-nine.

Wow... what a weekend! We just got back from a weekend in the woods with the Faerbers and the Hills. Addie had the best time playing with her two good friends Landon and Audrey. It was nice that they all entertained each other while we fished, played games, and sang old country songs to each other.

This particular image was taken while Adeline was fascinated with the rain outside. She was so surprised that it made the hair on her head stand straight up! I guess it made the hair on my head stand up too... lay off, I had just woken up from a nap.


I hear a cute picture of Addie and Landon smiling is floating around somewhere. Maybe someone (you know who you are) will post it sometime soon.

Day one hundred fifty-five.

... but at that point the other toys didn't matter. She only wanted the one that she couldn't reach.

Day one hundred fifty-two.

When I first decided to quit posting daily, I thought that it would be easy to think of stuff to say if I only posted every now and then. I was wrong.

I really can't think of anything post-worthy that has happened as of late. Adeline is still doing well. She is starting to feed herself and practice her somersaults. Oh, I almost forgot, she won a spelling bee last week and is a shoe-in for the debate club. I guess she is really advanced for her age.


She usually likes it when I hold her upside-down for a few seconds. She started to get impatient because this photograph took awhile (dead batteries or something). Sometimes I wonder what she is thinking in certain situations. Here is a brief list of things that she may or may not have been thinking during this photo-op:

1. Why is Dad still turning me upside-down?
2. Why is Mom taking a picture of Dad turning me upside-down?
3. Can't they just let me go to sleep?
4. Why haven't they touched up paint on ceiling corners yet?
5. Why is Dad still wearing his sunglasses at 7 P.M.?
6. Why are they watching a Bette Midler interview on T.V.?

Just for the record, we were in between stations and Bette Midler happened to be on during a commercial.

*I may have exaggerated how advanced Adeline is. She got second place in the spelling bee.

Day eighty-nine.

Sometimes it's not a good thing that Addie wants to be like her mom, like this week when Aubrey has a cold. Addie slept almost all day and wasn't feeling well tonight. She was fussy until she finally fell asleep.

At least she has hip green sheets.

Day eighty-four.

Today is Adeline's first official day at the cabin. It was also her first taste of a plum. Don't worry, those bite marks aren't Addie's.

Day eighty-three.

Adeline has done so well today. She even helped me pack for my adventure by practicing her laughing skills on her play-mat. Her laugh still sounds like a cry... Wait, maybe she wasn't practicing her laugh after all.

Day eighty-two.

Today we spent some time with Courtney and Grandma Brooke. Adeline got some new fancy girlie hair clips. This one is even the same texture as her own hair.

After we got to Courtney's place she was the first person to take a nap in Landon's crib, Addie that is, not Courtney.

Don't mind the hand on the right side of this picture. I tried to photoshop it out, but I have not learned to do it as well as some people I know.

Day sixty-seven.

Today Aubrey decided to curl Adeline's hair. It looks to me like she is going for the Kramer look.

Day fifty-three.

It has been a long day. Aubrey and the baby picked me up at the office after work and we spent a night out on the town. We went to visit the Chases and ended up playing cranium. We are always up for a good cranium challenge. The girls won... They always win. Adeline did really well. She was awake and happy just long enough to play with Danielle, then went right to sleep

By the time we got home Adeline was ready to crash. I had just enough time to take a few good pictures. This one wasn't the best, but it was the only one where she wasn't inadvertently flipping off the camera.
