Day two hundred fifty-five.

The feeding of normal foods has begun. It turns out that she loves to eat Rice Krispies. She concentrates so hard on picking them up and eating them, only to drop more than half in her lap before her hand reaches her mouth.

It keeps her entertained for quite some time. Unfortunately, this means we will probably eat out even more. I think the new year's count so far is at eight. Not bad for only nine days.

*Yes, we have noticed that her nose is a little orange. We are working on it.

Day one hundred six.

Adeline thinks that I am quite the comedian. Actually, she thinks everyone is a comedian. The word going around in Scottsdale is that Courtney got a good belly laugh out of her the other day. We often find ourselves checking on her while she is sleeping and finding her wide awake, smiling, and ready to squeak and giggle.

She has almost figured out how to turn over. I prefer to say that she has learned to roll onto her side. She used to love to be on her stomach. Now she struggles with it. It may have something to with her always full belly.

Day ninety-nine.

Adeline is very excited to wear a new dress to church. So excited that she decided to ignore her hands and her toys. I'm sorry if anyone expected a winner today.

Day ninety-seven.

Today I am trying a new experiment with Adeline. We all know she likes to suck on her hands. The only thing that we have used to distract her in the past was her pacifier. Now I am officially starting a campaign to stop her from sucking on her hands by using toys. This picture was attempt number one.

Toy: 0

Hands: 1

Apparently she wanted nothing to do with the toy and tried to hide it behind her head. I will persevere.

Right now she is going back and forth between the toy and her hand. This may actually work. I just picked up her toy and it was soaking wet.

Day ninety-six.

Sometimes Aubrey insists on putting Adeline in clothes that are too big for her. In this case it is tonight's jammies.

Adeline had a busy day today. She lasted two trips to Ikea and was still able to stay awake for a nice meal at the Olive Garden this evening (even though she prefers the Macaroni Grill). We asked her if she wanted to try the chicken parmesan, but she couldn't hear us over the loud slurping noise of her hand in her mouth.

Day ninety-two.

The whole baby age thing can be kind of tricky. If you count a month as thirty days, Adeline hit her three month mark two days ago. Today is also her three month mark since she was born on the thirtieth of April. Three months could also be tomorrow if you count a month as thirty-one days. I am not sure which way to count. I need an expert opinion.

We tried to get a good picture of her sucking her thumb. Her wet hand is the best proof we could get. I think she is practicing her shadow puppets.

Day eighty.

I just drove home through a huge dust storm. I was a bit paranoid that Adeline would get fussy and that I wouldn't be able to help her. She was so quiet during the drive that I thought she fell sound asleep. As I stopped to check the mail I quietly snuck a peek at her. She was wide awake and smiling. My goodness she is a good baby

I think Adeline is smiling in this picture because she knows that we are trying to keep her from sucking on her hands... Either that or she loves me very much... Or both.

Day seventy-nine.

Our old nose sucker fell apart on us the other day. It's pretty tough to keep Adeline happy with a clogged nose. It was quite convenient that Grandma Brooke had an extra one for us to use today. We could have just gone to buy a new one, but one of us hates to shop.

When we got home tonight Aubrey found Adeline sucking on her two middle fingers. She wanted me to take a picture right away but I couldn't find the camera. After about three or four minutes of trying to pose Adeline in the same position, she got impatient. This is all I could get.

Day seventy-six.

There are a few things wrong with this post and picture:

1. I should be sleeping because I have work at 7:00 A.M. tomorrow.
2. I shouldn't be using the flash because it will wake the baby.
3. Adeline should have been sleeping when I took this picture.
4. She isn't supposed to be sucking on her hand.
5. Addie should be wearing her pajamas this late at night.
6. If Addie isn't wearing her pajamas she should at least be wearing the first outfit we put her in today.
7. Adeline shouldn't have soiled her first outfit just as we were finishing our dinner at a nice restaurant.

Day seventy-three.

Today was my first day being Mr. Mom. At first it went really well. Then came bath time. She did fine until I took her out. Apparently she really likes to be in the water and she doesn't like to get out. Once I got her calmed down she was as happy as a clam.

I think I have mentioned here that she really likes her pacifier. If it isn't around she will suck on her hand. Right after I took this picture I took her hand out of her mouth and I put her pacifier back in. She then touched her hand to mine... It was really wet.

Day sixty.

It was quite difficult to take a picture of Addie today. After about thirty attempts she began to threaten us.

Day forty-seven.

I am on my lunch break right now. Adeline had been pretty fussy this morning because of a head to chin collision. I went in her room to check on her and she was wide awake thinking about the whole experience.

Don't mind my bloodshot eye in this picture. We went swimming the other night and I seem to have a problem with shutting my eyes under water.

Day twenty-seven.

Everybody loves Adeline... and it looks like Jacob loves ice cream too.

Day twenty-three.

She looks totally different today. We went out to lunch with some of Aubrey's co-workers. They loved Adeline.

When I was a kid I had a funny little habit of sleeping with one arm straight in the air. It was kinda strange. I got home from a ride-along for my new job and Aubrey asked, "Didn't you used to sleep with your arm in the air?" Then she said, "Cause I got some cute pictures of Adeline."

Sure enough, her arm is straight up in the air. I don't think any of this means anything, genetically speaking, but it is quite interesting.

Day thirteen.

Gone fishin'

Adeline's daddy is fishing in Payson today, so I am the substitute daily picture poster. I captured her exhibiting her Tonic Neck Reflex, also called the fencing reflex because... well, it looks like she's fencing.

"I hear you guys don't have a fencing team here. Well, I'm going to try my best to get one started for you." - Max Fischer

Day eleven.

Happy with the hiccoughs.

I was just browsing through our pictures and I realized that many of them are out of focus. There are two things that cause this:
1. I feel that natural light looks better than flash photography. Flashes make weird shadows in the picture. So if it bugs anyone, I am sorry.
2. The second reason is that we take too many "too close" pictures... I don't know how to fix that.

I was doing some work on a job application and decided it was time to shower. Aubrey was working on the other computer, so she put Adeline in her crib. As I walked into the bathroom, I heard a few hiccoughs coming from Adeline's room. I didn't think much of it.

When I got out of the shower, I heard a few more hiccoughs. I walked in to check on her and this is what I found. Eyes wide open, the hiccoughs, and really entertained with her hand.
